I am a ceramicist even though my current work is focused around illuminated paper installations. Starting as a ceramicist allowed me to learn important things that have defined me as an artist: art is dirty work and to embrace it, that all materials have their own unique limits and abilities, to question what is normal, and that you don’t really know something until you are able to teach it to someone.

My illuminated paper installations are made from coffee filters and chicken wire. The unusual materials bring me the most satisfaction because it fulfills my desire to push the limit of my materials. My works highlight and showcase my meticulous process of repeating the same form over and over to the point that it turns into a new form and loses the properties of its original.
